Privacy policy

Yorkr ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile app for organizing cricket matches, live scoring, and connecting with players and teams. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Yorkr mobile app and the services it connects to.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

How we use your information

• To provide core features: creating matches, live scoring, scorecards, team management, and leaderboards.
• To let you find and connect with other players and teams.
• To send push notifications about matches, innings, and updates for people/teams you follow. You can turn these off anytime in the app's settings.
• To diagnose crashes and understand feature usage, so we can improve the app.
• To show ads, and to measure how they perform.
• To keep the app and its users safe — for example, detecting abuse or fraudulent activity.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run the app:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, push notifications, crash reporting, and analytics.
• Cloudinary — hosting for profile photos, team logos, and ground photos.
• MongoDB Atlas — database storage for your account and match data.
• Render — hosting for the servers the app talks to.
• Google AdMob — shows the ads in the app. AdMob collects the information described under "Advertising" above and uses it as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
• MessageCentral — sends the one-time codes (OTP) you use to sign in by text message, so it receives your phone number.
• Resend — sends password reset emails, so it receives your email address.

Other Yorkr users can see information you make visible through normal app use — for example, your profile, team memberships, and match statistics.

Matches can also be shared as a web link. Anyone with a match's link can see its live score and scorecard, including the names of the players in it, in a web browser without the app.

Your choices

• Permissions — Contacts, Location, and Camera access can be turned off anytime in your device's system settings. Some features (like ground search or QR scanning) won't work without them.
• Notifications — Turn push notifications on or off in your device's settings.
• Advertising ID — Reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's settings (on Android, look for Ads in your privacy settings). Ads will still show, but won't be based on that ID.
• Account deletion — Delete your account in the app from Profile → Delete account. It takes effect immediately. If you can't use the app, email us at the address below instead. We'll delete your data except where we're required to keep it (for example, to resolve disputes or comply with the law). See Delete your account for details.

Data retention

We keep your account and match data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information straight away when you delete in the app, or within a reasonable time when you ask us by email, except data we're legally required to retain. Scores from matches you played in stay on other players' scorecards, shown as "Deleted player".

Children's privacy

Yorkr is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or by updating the "last updated" date above.
